Our Story
The Story of Kar Porselen began in 1983, in a small ceramic workshop. What started with the production of just 100 wedding favor items per day quickly evolved, fueled by growing interest in our products. A remarkable order of 50,000 pieces led us to begin mass production, laying the foundation for our corporate manufacturing infrastructure.
Kar Porselen was the first to produce the iconic “Chef’s Spoon Holder”, which became a staple in many Turkish kitchens. Following years of dedicated R&D efforts, we developed Türkiye’s whitest ceramic raw material and transitioned from gift items to tabletop ceramics using traditional underglaze hand-decoration techniques, opening a new chapter in our product portfolio.
With our innovative spirit, we became the first in Turkey to produce square-shaped plates, launching the now-classic “Karmen” design, which found its place on countless tables. We then laid the foundations of a new 10,000 m² closed-area production facility in Çayırova, Kocaeli, equipped with cutting-edge technologies.
Our move to porcelain stemmed from a desire to go beyond the limitations of stoneware and bring the whiteness, elegance, and perfection of Kar ceramics to the table. We later achieved another national first by introducing Fine Bone Porcelain—a much thinner, more refined, and highly durable porcelain product than standard versions.
Despite all the transformation and growth over the years, our guiding philosophy has remained unchanged:
“At Kar Porselen, the only thing we never give up on is our belief in innovation, technological advancement, and quality.”
As a natural continuation of this vision, we launched Bonna in 2014—a global brand developed specifically for professional kitchens and the HoReCa world. With Bonna, we have taken our commitment to quality and design to the next level, earning a place on the tables of chefs and guests across the globe.
As a reliable, professional, ethical, collaborative, innovative, and sustainable business partner, we continue to create value that goes beyond borders.
